Lautech medical consultants urge government to pay salaries

The Medical and Dental Consultants Association, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has urged the Oyo State Government to settle the unpaid salaries of members to put an end to the ongoing industrial strike.
The group made the call in a statement jointly signed by Dr Adewale Adeyemi and Dr Afolabi Salawu, Chairman and Secretary respectively.
The statement was made available to newsmen on Sunday in Ogbomoso.
Labour unions in the hospital embarked on the strike action in the first week of April.
The unions are protesting the non payment of their salaries since January.
The statement said the strike had brought untold hardship to patients, workers and students.
It acknowledged the dwindling resources available to the state government for its developmental programmes, but urged government to be considerate in its dealings with the striking workers.
The statement also urged government to resolve the crisis and restore normalcy in the hospital. (NAN)
