TheAssociation of Resident Doctors (ARD), Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso Chapter, has appealed to Oyo and Osun state governments, owners of the institution to pay the salaries of its members.
The association made the plea today in a statement issued in Ogbomoso by its president, Dr Taofeek Oloyede.
“Resident doctors in this hospital have worked against all odds to ensure the good people of Ogbomoso and its environs get the best of care which has been enjoyed since inception.”
The association, said its members had commenced an indefinite strike since 7 April. The association also noted that the action of Oyo and Osun governments had wrought grave consequences on the hospital.
The union said its members would no longer continue to bear the brunt of the neglect and called for the intervention of all stakeholders.
Workers at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH), Osogbo declared an indefinite strike action on wednesday.
The decision was taken at a congress held by various workers unions at the institution on Wednesday. The workers complained about their unpaid salaries between October and December 2013, and March 2014.
The Medical and Dental Union in the Institution had commenced strike action a day earlier, Tuesday, 15th April 2014.
